Being A Member
When the group first formed in 2006 it was lead by a small committee who operated a lottery type selection for guest members who attended monthly meetings to see who could accompany them on investigations. However, sadly in time this did not work for numerous reasons. So a permanent team was created with each core individual selected by skills, dedication and the ability to work as a team member.
Every month since forming we receive applications to join our team which is fabulous as it truly shows a huge interest in the paranormal subject.
To be a member you do not have to be a believer in the paranormal topics, but have a real keen interest and passion to explore the subject. Currently it is fair to say that there are members who are considered sceptics, open sceptics and believers creating a balance to the personal accounts that maybe reported from an investigation. Whatever, a persons belief system is, all we ask is a member is respectful towards others beliefs and has that core passion to explore what can be a very exciting subject.
If you are looking for a roller coaster ghost hunt that will get your heart racing and adrenalin pumping we would direct you to find another group. We aren’t “Ghostbusters”, or “demon hunters” and each investigation is planned, as much as possible, with the emphasis on capturing evidence and finding reasons for unexplained happenings. We try to offer a service to those who may be experiencing unexplained happenings in their work place or homes.
Types of Membership
There are two forms of membership currently available in the Hereford Paranormal Group.
Permanent Member – Who has a delegated task within the group and has the opportunity to attend every investigation. They are expected to commit to at least 8 of the 11 investigations and be prepared to attend the hours of an investigation.
Reserve Members – These are members of the group who are invited to attend an investigation should one of the permanent members be unable to. Names are literally placed in a hat and selected.
There are also many social events throughout the year that you will be invited to attend and other benefits to your membership.
Becoming A Member
In the first instance you should email the HPG requesting a general application form. If you are successful you will be invited to attend an investigation. From your attendance at the investigation you will be able to assess if the HPG is something for you and we will be able to assess if you are the team player as indicated in your application. You don’t have to be confident to get a place in the HPG, but your ability to follow direction and enthusiasm should be evident. Since operating this selection, nobody to-date has not been offered a membership in the HPG.
If all goes well and everyone is happy, you will be invited to become a reserve member of the team.
If a permanent member of the team leaves, reserve members are invited to apply for a permanent position.
Please contact general enquiries to see if there are any current vacancies to join the team.
