Insurance & Public Liability
When the Hereford Paranormal Group first formed, laws and guidelines were very different. We were able to just go off and do paranormal investigations on the invitation of owners and managers. Locations own public liability was sufficient. as were consent forms. BUT as most know and accept, laws, insurance policies and guidelines change and it's important that we change and adapt too. You are finding most reputable organisations are now making statements on their websites and documentation similar to " If you are a venue owner PLEASE request sight of the insurance documentation prior to allowing groups into your property. Individual insurance policies are unlikely to cover group activity such as this especially out of public hours and in the dark". For the protection of the location, owners/managers, the general public and for the group itself it is essential. If you are unsure we recommend you check your own liability insurances before proceeding to see if your inventory, building and people involved, including yourself, are covered.
We also agree this is a prudent measure and immediately obtained this. It is very easy for organisations to obtain this insurance. If other organisations want to contact us to ask questions relating to this matter please feel free to do so. We cant recommend a company due to laws which exist, but we can hopefully point you in the right direction. We have had a location asking us for this only recently prior to proceeding with a booking.....make sure you are similar!
